The Secrets of a Baby Onesie
Before we became parents, we had minimum experience with all things baby. Although we had baby nieces and nephews, we learned that you can never know what it's truly like to be a parent until you have one of your own. You never pay attention to the details until you're forced to learn them; changing diapers, nursing, dressing etc, you really dive into it all once that baby enters your life and changes it forever. Among many things we learned, something that we thought was the simplest, most self explanatory baby product to exist was one that surprised us the most: the baby Onesie. It looks pretty straight forward, and it is, but the secrets we later found out saved us time, mess and worry (yup, pretty aligned with our mission categories).
So here it is...
Did you know, the little overlap on the shoulders that almost all onesies come with are there for a reason.... They are made to easily slip the Onesie down baby's body not over their head! Why you ask? If you've ever been in a poop-tastic situation where poop ended up beyond the boundaries of a Diaper (really beyond any boundaries) and you made it an ever bigger mess by trying to remove the pooped Onesie over the babies head, smearing it further onto their back, arms, face...and we won't go on... This one is for you! Thankfully a friend caught us in the act one revelating day and told us the secret. Why oh why wasn't this written on every Onesie ever bought???? You. Are. Welcome.
The secret continued...
Ever notice some Onesies have an overlap at the end of their sleeves? Well they are there for a reason, they are made to pull over baby's hands so they can't scratch themselves! No need to go out and purchase anti scratch Mittens that you will only use a hand full of times, just get onesies with this feature and it will do the trick for you plus you have a onesie baby can get more use out of.
And the last secret (that we know of so far)...
This one we may have discovered or maybe made up ourselves but still equally important. You know the 3 buttons that every Onesie has to enclose around the Diaper, well why? Why is there always 3 of them? We couldn't come up with an answer that made sense, however we did come up with a hack.... You leave the middle one unbuttoned and you use it for easier access to unbutton every time! Just put your finger through the hole and pull... Ta-da! It will also save you an extra minute battling your little crocodile to get one more button done up during every change! We are seriously obsessed with this one, we hope you will be too.
